Château le Calvaire

Here lie the Quancard family roots. Many of the chateau’s vines share the same destiny as Terrefort.
They overlook the Dordogne, a river flowing with hopes and expectations, many of which are reflected here in this beautiful wine, born from a passion for the terroir and its history. Straddling the 45th parallel, the vines of the château benefit from a microclimate that is ideal for winegrowing: moderately warm, humid, masses of sunshine and mild winters.

Blend : 64% Merlot, 36% Cabernet Sauvignon
Vinification : Cold pre-fermentation maceration for a week
Ageing : Ageing of 1/3 of the wine in oak barrels

Surface area : 70 hectares
Planting Density : 5 000 vine / hectare
Yield : 50 hectoliters / hectare
Grapes varieties : Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon
Average age of the vine : 30 years
Terroirs : Limestone enriched with ferrous all uvial deposits

Dégustation :

Beautiful deep colour with glints of ruby, and a subtle, delicate nose with notes of tart red fruit and raspberries. The palate is fruity and smooth, revealing notes of red fruit and redcurrants, accompanied by supple tannins, A beautiful wine.

Accompagnement :

Excellent with beef, or chicken cooked in a sauce, or grilled. Also goes well with soft cheeses such as camembert, brie or munster
